The dodo emoji depicts a plump, round bird with a quirky appearance. The dodo was a large, flightless bird that lived on the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. Sadly, it became extinct in the 1600s, mainly because of human hunting and the introduction of non-native animals that disrupted its habitat. This emoji is often used to represent extinction, uniqueness, or moments in history. It can also be a fun addition to discussions about animals, the past, or things that are no longer around.
The dodo emoji was approved in Unicode 13.0 and added in Emoji 13.0, see related proposal L2/17441
